I was pleasantly surprised to come across this Sol Lewitt sculpture outside Emory University’s White Hall a few months ago. I had turned around after admiring John Grade’s Piedmont Divide installation and came face to face with Sol Lewitt’s Tower 1. This rigid structure became organic with the shadows of leafless trees streaking its solid form. The stacking and sharp edges echo the structure of the building in the background perfectly. You can’t help but admire it.
